I got the keys to Wild Rose Cottage on Friday.

The owner has granted me early occupancy with rental, as I want to be in and settled before the big move (with cats) in 3 weeks time.

So Saturday we had a working bee with the entire East Coast Australian Kettlestring population (all 7 of us) involved. My Mum cleaned windows that were so filthy you couldn't see through them, my Dad used his infamous pruning skills to good use to clear the overgrown vegetation around the site, my brother got his brush cutter out, my sister-in law provided an awesome lunch and my niece and nephew ran around in circles. I took down a temporary fence that had been put around the back garden and was a complete eyesore.

Dad and I also collected a Queen sized bad I bought via Facebook.

One day's work and the house and land already look so much better. I have electricity and hot water going, and the toilet flushes from the water tank and not from the dam as originally feared (as the pump isn't going).

My family is arranging to get the Chimney flue cleaned and the carpets cleaned, and after that I should be able to start sleeping there.

I am getting very adept at the 6 hour drive from Westleigh to Invergowrie. If you want a critique of all the public toilets en route let me know but I can vouch that Wallabadah and Willow Tree have excellent loo facilities....
